Kentucky beats Tennessee

Matt and I stayed in Ashland until late Friday evening, watching Elf and eating Sally's yummy chex mix.

Nanny and Poppy graciously told us they'd watch our crazy boys for the UK/TN game the next day, so we wanted to hang out as long as possible.
We were originally going to get up really early Saturday, and drive into Lexington, but we agreed that it would be a lot easier all around, and especially on the boys to leave that evening. That way we wouldn't wake up with them and say "See ya!" Normally, I actually think that would have been fine but Rhetter man is a stage 5 clinger right now. Won't let his Mama leave the room if he knows she's near. :)

So we headed out around 10, and got home around midnight. Packed up our coolers and went to bed.
We were up bright and early the next morning, ready for the game!
My friend Kara and her husband Kevin were the ones that shared their tickets with us, we were so excited to get to hang out! It also turned out that Amy and Tim, and all the kids were going too, and they have a friend that just bought an RV to tailgate in...um talk about fun!!!

On our way to pick up Kara and Kevin!
So, when we get there, it is a full blown set up! Food, drinks, passing football, corn hole, and not to mention an awesome RV! Not too long after we got there, we heard word that The Turtleman was tailgating in the RV Park.
So...of course we headed out for our own search of the Turtleman!

Then he picked every one up for pictures lol! He was hilarious, and very nice.
He told someone he was the poorest famous person you'll ever meet! Lol!

So after the Turtleman adventure, it was Game Time so we headed in to our seats!

We had great seats thanks to someone from Kara's work,
and...
WE WON!!!

SO MUCH FUN!

We went back to the RV to celebrate, and met up with The Turtleman one more time before we left, ha!

Oh man, we had such a fun day, tailgating with friends and family. We were SO happy that the one game we were able to make this season was such a huge game, and that we were a part of history!

After the game, Matt and I went to Saul Good for dinner. So fun to be able to eat dinner alone with him! Then we had some friends over that evening, and ended up going to a Piano bar for a little while.

So thankful for the opportunity to go to the game, and thankful for Nanny & Poppy for watching our sweet boys so we could have some time to ourselves for the weekend.
Checking on them, Nanny told us the boys did great and were having a lot of fun. We picked them up on Sunday, a rainy yucky day, but that evening we put up our Christmas tree.
What a great ending to a wonderful weekend!

Thanksgiving

Last year, since Rhett was still a teeny tiny little thing, we decided to have a non traditional Thanksgiving dinner with my family, and he and I stayed behind on the traveling to Ashland. I wasn't up for traveling yet, so Daddy and Case headed on down solo.

This year though, I was excited that we got back to our traditions, I love the holidays and this time of year, mostly because it brings us closer to the Christmas season!

We headed to Amy and Tim's for lunch on Thursday, she made a perfect turkey in her roaster, along with mashed potatoes and green beans. I made some Southern Living homemade macaroni and cheese (Amy gave me the recipe - and it was yummy) also brought the sister schubert rolls. Mmm. Mom made some Lemon Ice Box pie, and there was of course pumpkin pie and brownies. We had a great time spending time with family, boys watched football, Case had a blast with Avery, poor little Rhett missed all the fun - but was happy napping in a pack n play in Griffin's room. ;) I took full advantage of getting Avery's Christmas list straight from the source (she is so adorable). By the end of it all, we were all in a full belly coma.

Soon after, we got some caffeine and geared up for our trip to Ashland. Earlier that week, my friend Kara asked Matt and I if we wanted to join her and Kevin for the UK vs TN game that Saturday. Lucky for us Nanny & Poppy agreed to watch them for us, so we planned for our little men to stay an extra night.

Sally and Mamaw made all the wonderful food for us, Sally cooked all day the day before so she was able to relax most of the day Friday. We lounged around all day, which is always nice, Case got to spend some time with Mamaw and Papaw at their house (he had an absolute blast!) and it was fun getting to see Kelli too! We missed seeing Erica and Eric this trip, but excited about seeing everyone together for Christmas.
Then later, Case and Daddy had some manly bonding time - and Case shot his very first BB gun!

One proud little man, I know one Daddy that was proud too.

Like Father like Son. Melts me. Won't be long before there's a third little guy walking along in this picture. :)

We had a wonderful time with all of our family, so SO so much to be thankful for.
God is SO good.

Rhett's First Birthday!

Rhetter's had a pretty normal day on his actual birthday, he woke up like normal, went to school like normal, napped like normal, played like normal, and went to bed like normal.

Little man was so tired by dinner time, we decided against giving him a special birthday treat - we knew he had a birthday party coming up that weekend though, and since he celebrated the weekend before we knew he wouldn't be too disappointed. ;)

However...there was ONE exciting thing that happened on his first birthday, somebody got to turn their car seat forward and sit like a big boy!

He was so excited! Daddy turned it around that night before, after he was already in bed. So when I buckled him in to head out for school, he just kept laughing and cheesing at me!
Then kept looking at Case like "Hey, look big bro! I'm riding like you!"

We were excited to celebrate his birthday on Saturday, and make a big deal out of it for him.

The morning of his party, we tried to put him down early for his morning nap so he'd be awake and ready to rock by 11pm (party time.)
BUT little man decided to have a party in his crib until around 10:30am. So, he snoozed through the first hour of his party until Mommy finally went upstairs and scooped him up!

That's right, our Christmas lights and decorations are already up outside! ;) Waiting to decorate inside until after Thanksgiving though!

That evening, we made sure to sing to our little man, and give him another cupcake just for him :)

This might be my favorite picture from the entire day...HA! :)

Here's a video of the birthday boy eating a little cupcake, complete with Matt getting hot wax on his lip from the birthday candle. Eek! Lol! :) Oh and please excuse my horrible loud awful singing. :)

A Whole Entire Year Old

This morning I took Case to school as a drop in; so he could play while I took Rhett to his 12 month appointment.

It was sort of weird dropping his off, and not staying, as I suspected though he did just fine, and hardly looked back to say Good-bye! ;)

So littlest man and I were off to his appointment. After stripping him down to just a diaper to get weighed and measured, he played with some leggo's they had in the exam room while we waited for our Doctor. When he came in he just smiled and smiled at him! When he was listening to his heart, Rhett leaned over, and gave Dr. Latham a hug! It was so sweet. He did find a trace of his heart murmur again. He assured me that it sounded like the same flow murmur that he heard before, and that we didn't need to take any further action. As he said, it sounded like a heart murmur that he will grow out of, and the fact that it has come and gone every check up proves that, that in fact is probably the case.

Other than that, he is super healthy!
He has been walking more and more lately. Taking a few more steps daily, and wouldn't you know he walked the furthest I've ever seen him walk in front of our Doctor! Little show off! ;)

Little Rhett weighed in at 20 lbs 13 oz, and is 29 1/4 in long.

Next came the shots, and we needed draw blood again at this appointment to check his levels again. (He was slightly anemic at his 9 month check up, so we had been adding Iron drops to his bottles every day.)

So shots were as always painful to watch, but over quickly. Then the drawing of the blood was just heart breaking, but again over pretty fast. Dr. L called back that afternoon and said his levels were almost there, to give him the drops for about another month and they wouldn't need to recheck him again. (Same exact thing happened with his big brother)

Leaving the Doctor's office, Rhett got lots and lots of kisses from Mommy. He looked so pitiful and worn out, not to mention that it was the middle of his nap time.

See what I mean? Poor little guy!

It was soon followed by this though. :)
A rough little morning for the little man, and he was pretty cuddly and sleepy for the rest of the day, but he got lots and lots of extra lovin'.

Still can't believe he's old enough for a 12 month check up!
