A Very Happy Update

Mommy figured out Case's schedule! He was acting sleepy around noon the other day, so I went ahead and put him down...he slept for four hours. FOUR HOURS! I think I was pushing it too far, I think he was getting overly tired and therefore fighting his nap with all of his little might.

Today, I put him down at noon again and he slept for 3 1/2 hours. Ohh the difference a good nap makes, he has literally not stopped laughing today! He laughs at the blocks, he laughs at his toy cow, he laughs if he walks by you, he is laughing at the truck he just picked up and brought to his Daddy, he's now laughing while he's walking, and he's now laughing because he just walked backwards and plopped down...

Ha! Mama loves a happy boy, and good naps. :)

Updates & Rambling

Well Case has decided he doesn't like his baby sleeping schedule anymore. I don't know what it is! Does he all of a sudden think he's a big boy or what?

Granted, the boy is a year and a half now but he still should need/want a decent nap and go to bed at a decent hour right? I think we were a little spoiled by our champion sleeper, and anytime he switches up his schedule (which is actually quite normal as he grows I know but...) we flip out!

A few weeks ago, I realized Case was ready to drop his morning nap, every time I would try to put him down at his previously very normal nap time around 11am he would laugh, giggle, and jump in his crib until I would finally go get him so he could continue playing and running around. Well this worked for about a week because I would put him down around 1pm instead and he would take a good 2-3 hour nap.
Worked for me!

However....the last few days he's been sleeping about 45 min- 1 hour a day and that's it!!! It would be fine except that he has his cranky pants on for the rest of the day ugh!

Tomorrow, I'm determined to figure out this nap thing. Maybe we'll go down at 2pm tomorrow instead of 1. We'll see how it goes!

That was my rambling, now here's my Update...

We went to visit our new little addition this weekend!

Our puppy "Gunner" is 4 weeks old now, and he has grown so much! Matt and I were so excited to go visit him again, but I think it's safe to say Case had the most fun! He squealed when he saw the Mama, Lola and wanted to hold his puppy over and over again. He would plop on the ground, and pat his legs so that we would put Gunner in his lap! He was was very gentle with him when he touched him, but we had to remind him to be easy when he picked him up, he picked Gunner up like he was a stuffed animal poor thing! Although, we won't have to worry about that too long, he'll be twice Case's size in no time at all!

Also, had to show off how beautiful Gunner's Mom and Dad are!
Mama, Lola

Daddy, Howitzer...(hence the name Gunner) :)

We're going to pick our little guy up the second weekend of April, since the first weekend is Easter weekend and we'll be visiting everyone in Ashland (Yay! So excited to see everyone, and it's about time we get to see Mamaw & Papaw! They've been in Texas since the day after Christmas!)

I think this post definitely fits the title! :)

Aunt Ruth

I want to write this down, because I always want to remember it.

My Aunt Ruth, the one who shares my birthday, July 15th, was that family member that was just so fun, and was always a joy to be around. We would get together every year for a "Birthday Bash" and get together with all of the family living in Winchester. My Aunt Ruth, Uncle Frank and their boys, wives and children.

She was always so feisty, and down right funny. She always had pictures, either bringing them or taking them at our house, and she was always yelling at Uncle Frank to record what was going on. They had this huge video camera...Vonda even mentioned that in the eulogy.

Aunt Ruth passed away March 14, 2010. It broke a tremendous amount of hearts.
Aunt Ruth and my Uncle Frank are such amazing people. Their sons and wives are good people, so easy to talk to and so sweet. Their kids are growing like weeds. It makes me so sad that we spent so little time with them each year, I wish our once a year birthday bash wasn't the only planned visit.

Aunt Ruth's visitation and funeral were overwhelmingly sad, but also overwhelmingly beautiful. She touched so many lives, and it was evident in that room. My sister and I cried through the whole funeral, Uncle Frank was heartbroken, he said things like "She was the best wife a man could have, I loved every single day with her", "God told me that my job in life was to take care of her, and I guess now my job is over" and "You know she's forgot all about me up there in heaven, she'll slow down in a little while and remember me, but she's having too much fun right now" (Love him!) her sons told Amy and I how much she loved us and talked about us. We had no idea she had pictures of us by her bedside table, and talked about our children along with her grandchildren. She was so unbelievably amazing.

I want to remember her faith, and her love of life and her family. She makes me want to love hard and relentlessly. She also reminded me that we can't do it all, that we have to give what we can't control over to Jesus, and that he is always there for us. I also want to remember something she had hand written in her bible about her children. "I carried you under my heart, and now I carry you in my heart"

What an amazing woman to look up to.
We will miss you Aunt Ruth.

Days Like This Are Meant To Be Spent Outside...

...and that's EXACTLY what we did.

So thankful for my boys, they are my heart. :)

Trip to Granny's

A trip to Granny's house is a little piece of heaven in my book. So many precious memories were made there, and whenever our family visits it's such a wonderful time.

Mom has been staying with Granny for a while now, helping out around the house and to make sure Granny doesn't do too much. She's a feisty little thing, and I love that about her.

Matt had a golf trip planned the first week of March, so Case and I decided to spend the time at Granny's to visit. Amy and the kids also came since it was Tim's trip as well.  Amy and I LOVE LOVE LOVE our Granny's house, and we of course cherished every moment.

As always, I brought along the camera...

Gunner, our Chocolate Lab!

Are we crazy for getting a puppy while we have a one year old?
Maybe.
But we are also crazy about the idea of Case having a companion and best friend!

Case absolutely LOVES dogs. Unfortunately, Max isn't the friendliest dog, I have nick named him "Grumpy man", and we think he's more like a cat than a dog. He's very moody and only wants to be loved on on his terms. He's terrified of Case unless Case wants to feed him, and would rather be left alone then touched.
We've done some research, and with help of a friend found a wonderful Kennel in Bloomfield, Ky. It's a family that breeds Labs and Bulldogs, and live on a beautiful farm. We've been in contact with him, and went to visit when the puppies were a week old! We picked out a sweet baby boy chocolate lab, and have decided to name him Gunner. :)

Gunner was born February 21, 2010 and  he'll be able to come home with us April 4, 2010, and we're planning to visit our little guy again this weekend!

We're so excited to add another member to our little family, and can't wait for Case to have a buddy. :)
