Splashing

Lately, I have been doing all sorts of little projects around the house. The past few weeks, I have repainted the downstairs bathroom, and I have been repainting all of the trim in the house. Just to freshen everything up.

Well, the other day, I just had a little bit to go on the staircase when Mr. Rhett woke up from his nap. After feeding him his bottle, I let him play downstairs for a little while as I finished up. All the gates were locked, and Case was still snoozing.

I was almost done, when I heard a splash. Followed by giggling.
Splash
Giggle
Splash
 Belly Laugh
Splash
 Cracking Up

Oh my word.

I ran downstairs, grabbed the camera on my way because I just knew.

I hate that this is blurry!

Seriously Rhetter man??!
So GROSS! But how funny is his face?? He knows he is rotten!

Don't you worry, he got a good wash after this! Little stinker! :)

The Boys & Their Dog

I was looking through my pictures the other day, and found all sorts of sweet pictures of the boys and our big ol' sweet Gunner.

The boys love their big dog so much, and I think the feeling is pretty mutual.

Guys Night Out

Matt has been working super late lately, his hours always depend on what jobs he has going on in the field. Some weeks he gets home at 6 every night on the dot, and sometimes he doesn't get home until 7 or 8 or even later if he is out of town for the day at work.

Well, Mr. Case man has been testing, testing lately and Matt and I were talking about it, and we figured that little man probably needed some one on one time with one of us. We both decided that it was about time for a guys night out, I know Daddy was missing both of his boys as much as they were missing him. Rhetter's is still oblivious to guys nights out. So, he got to have some one on one time with Mommy, and Daddy planned a night out with just his toddler tonight.

I don't think there is a better guys night out than a baseball game! :)

I think it's safe to say that Case was pretty excited!

9 Months

Just look at that cute little stinker!

We had our 9 month check up on Thursday, whenever we arrive I always pay the co pay and schedule his next appointment. She was asking me when I would like to make it since it was the week before Thanksgiving and I said "What about that Friday?" then she said "Okay, just didn't want it to interfere with his big 1st birthday plans" WHAT?! He's only three months away from his first birthday?!?

It took me a few minutes to calm down from the shock, and to schedule it for the following Monday instead.
Seriously? His next appointment is his 12 month check up?

Well, little man is doing great. His heart murmur is completely GONE! We are so blessed!

On to the good stuff:
Height: 28 1/2 in
Weight: 19 lbs 10 oz
Big boy!

He had to get a second round of a shot, and we also had to go the lab this check up for his anemic screening. The shot was quick and relatively easy, he screamed, but only for a few seconds. The finger prick though? OH. MY. WORD. Bless his sweet loving heart. I remember when Case had to do it too, and it is just so hard to watch. Not only does the prick make them turn bright red and scream bloody murder, the poor nurse has to hold their hand down and squeeze and squeeze and squeeze drops of blood out to get enough for a sample. Eeek.

It was over before we knew it though, and he was totally enthralled with the band-aid attached to his finger.

Oh, and I have to brag about big brother for a minute.
Case was such a big helper during Rhett's exam, our Doctor even let him wear his stethoscope to listen to Rhett's heart.
Well, as we were leaving, our Doctor told Case to make sure he got a sticker. When we left the room, Case was looking at all of the stickers and deciding which one he wanted.
Then Dr. Latham said, "Case there are some over here, want to see?"
He picked one out and when he tried to put it on Case's shirt he said "No, that's for baby Rhett!"
"Well, not many big brothers pick a sticker out for there little brother's first. That was very nice, Case"

Then Dr. Latham looked at me, smiled and said "You are doing a great job."

Such a simple little sentence, but meant the world to me.
Especially, when some days I just don't think I'm doing anything right. Like the days when my two year old is testing me to my wits end, Rhett is fussy, and clingy. The boys want the same toy all day long, and I'm repeatedly telling Case not to push his brother and to share. I'm putting Case into time out multiple times for throwing things, or being too rough with Rhett. Gunner is knocking everyone over. Everyone is crying. Yeah, those days. But then, someone says something like that, and my confidence is built up again, and I remind myself that I am doing the best I can. It also reminds me just how unbelievably blessed I am to be a Mom.

I was so proud of my boys, Rhett was so smiley and sweet, and Case was such a big helper and great big brother.

Update: The Doctor called late that afternoon with the results from the screening. It turns out Rhetter's is mildly anemic. His numbers are a little bit low so we need to drop in some Vitamins with Iron into his bottles and baby food until his next screening. (Case had to do this too, and was fine by his 12 month check up. We are hoping Rhett is the same!)

Granny's House

Granny's House
One of my most favorite places of all.

Within about an hour, Case and Avery found the sprinkler. A Granny's house tradition in the summer.

Then, the bravest little girl I know found a lizard.

We took a walk with the wagon.

We all sat around in the garage together

Granny :)

Then we rode some motorcycles!

Our Uncle John even took little Avery on a ride down Granny's road and back, he said she wasn't afraid what so ever, and squealed and laughed when he went a little faster! So brave!

Then we saw a double rainbow after a Thunderstorm
(It was SO INTENSE! HA!)

Then we played in the puddles

Then we said Good-bye, until our next visit.

Pool Days

We've only been to the pool a hand full of times this summer, mostly because it's pretty hard with a 2 year old and a baby! Case isn't super confident in the pool yet, and obviously babies need full your full attention. It's pretty exhausting actually! HA!

We have been with my friend Kelli and her girls and niece a few times, and we went for a couple of hours with Daddy one weekend. The easiest trip to the pool this summer was when my Mom watched Rhetter man for me so Case and I could go with Dad, Cy, Griffin (his friend Will) and Avery. The big boys watched over Case and I didn't have to worry about Rhett needing to eat or nap while we were in the sun. It was soo relaxing!

It's also pretty hard to get pictures when you are keeping an eye on two little ones! I managed to get a few here and there throughout the summer though.

Here's our pool day with Daddy

Then a couple of weekends ago, a friend from church planned a play date at the pool. We met up with Lindsy and her two girls, Kennedy and Avery. Along with my friend Sarah, and her two boys Eli and Miles. It was so much fun, although it was hard for the Momma's to all talk and hang out, because naturally all of our mobile little ones were running off in different directions! :)

I for one, am looking forward to next summer as the boys will be a little older and much easier to take to the pool! I am NOT wishing for that to happen anytime soon though! I still can't wrap my head around the fact that Case is about a month away from being THREE and Rhett is NINE MONTHS OLD! UGH!

8 Months

Our sweet Rhetter man is 8 months old, only days shy of being a big ol' 9 month old.
Had to pick some of my favorite pictures from his 8th month before it slips away!

He is such a blessing!

What he's up to now:
  • He is crawling like a champ, he is a fast little thing too!
  • I just had to change this bullet from "He is trying his hardest to pull up" to "He pulled up for the first time TODAY!" He just pulled up on a Huggies Diaper Box that we had saved for the boys to play with, as I was typing this blog post!
  • He's still the happiest, easiest baby ever.
  • He's napping two times a day, usually around 10am and 1 or 2pm, or if we are out and about he takes a 3-4 hour nap around 2.
  • He is wearing mostly 9 month outfits, but he's already wearing some of Case's 12 month and 18 month clothes! I keep having to pull out the next tub we saved of Cases!
  • He is a Momma's boy, but no one can make him laugh like his brother and Daddy!
  • Loves his big dog Gunner!
  • Watches Toy Story with Case for a few minutes at a time now, so funny!
  • Just the sweetest boy ever! :)
 Love that boy!

Update: He is now (within 30 minutes of pulling up for the first time) pulling up on the couch, and trying to climb on top of the diaper box to get to the couch.
We are in serious trouble now.

Thursday Night Live

Last week, Dad took all the "kids" out for lunch at Fazolis, and then to Orange Leaf for dessert.
We had so much fun!
We missed Mom. She had of course planned to go, but ended up heading to Leitchfield to be with my Granny.

After Orange Leaf, we all came back to our house to hang out for a little while. Sitting around, Dad mentioned that he was thinking about going to Thursday Night Live that evening. The Big Maracas were playing that night, the same band that played at my brother Ryan & Virginia's wedding!

I had never been, but had been wanting to all summer! It just never ended up happening, so I jumped at the opportunity! I asked the kids if they wanted to (Cy, Griffin & Avery) Griffin didn't want to that night, and Avery had her orientation for 3rd grade. Matt had to work late, so Dad, Case, Rhett, Cy and I all headed down around 5:30!

Dad got down there before us, and saved us a spot pretty close to the band. Cy, the boys and I drove around and around looking for a parking spot - if you know me you know driving downtown scares me, but we did just fine! :)

 Case was a dancing fool!

Rhetter's took everything in. :)

Oh my word this kid loves to dance.

I have no idea where he got such sweet, Egyptian dance moves!

It was such a fun, random evening out!
Wish Matt, Mom Griffin, Avery, Amy, and Tim could have made it. Especially wish Ryan & Virginia could have made it to watch their wedding band play again!
Wish all of our family could have made it for that matter!

We will definitely have to go again!
