Rhett's 2 Year Old Wellness Check Up

Thinking back to his previous wellness check ups,
I was anxious to hear how our little man was doing.
Especially since the last couple involved weight checks.
If you remember, he didn't gain much between his last routine check ups.
Giving his Mama lots of anxiety, which led to lots of peanut butter milk shakes
to help fatten him up a little.

Half of me knew our wonderful Doctor was just being cautious,
but on the other hand it was constantly in the back of my mind.

Thankfully, the appointment was perfect!
Our little guy's weight has gone back into the normal scale.
His little ears, reflexes, and measurements were all on track.
Rhett is a whopping 26 pounds. Ha! Teeny little thing.

He told us that he was very advanced in his large and fine motor skills,
as he watched him play with the provided leggos and books.

The funniest part about the appointment though,
was that Rhett was chatting up a storm before the Doctor came in.
I even caught myself shushing him and laughing to myself.
He was just a taaaalking, and a talking

When our Doctor walked in, he even commented,
"Who's the happy boy making all that noise?"

Well, Rhett.
Proving to be shyer and shyer,
took one look at him and shut his trap.
He grabbed a book, keeping one eye on Doctor Latham.
Then came and sat on the empty chair next to me.
Stuck out his bottom lip, and turned the pages.

We both laughed a little over his sudden change in behavior,
and Rhett continued to pretend to read as he asked me the routine questions about my boy.
He warmed up a little after Dr. L let him play with his otoscope...and after the stickers. :)

Sooo thankful for our happy healthy little boys.

Rhett is TWO!

Happy Second Birthday Little Man!

After celebrating Mamaw the weekend before, (Happy birthday Mamaw!)
we turned right around to celebrate our little man turning the big two.

Big thanks to Nanny for letting me use her camera, as always!

CHOO CHOO, LOOK WHO'S 2!

Since there was a UK game on Saturday, we celebrated Sunday afternoon with our family.
Mommy drew and cut out several choo choo trains, Daddy make chilli,
and we had a very simple, fun little party.

 Pretty girl!

Rhett was napping when our family showed up, we put him down early
so he would get a nap in before the party.
However, when he was still snoozing past 2:00, Matt went to check on him.
He's been known to wake up on the wrong side of the crib if woken up too fast.
We usually wait until he calls for us, otherwise he will be so grumpy.
Well, with a party waiting for him...we took our chances...
We should not have taken our chances.

Rhett was so cranky for the first 45 minutes or so.
He was a little overwhelmed by seeing everyone all at once while coming down the stairs.
He clung to Momma like white on rice.
Finally...he got distracted by Toy Story 3, and I was able to give me hip a break.

Then he remembered that he needed me. ;)

(I made his little choo choo train shirt with the freezer paper method)
As soon as we broke out the presents, his mood changed pretty quickly!

Case was pretty excited about presents too!

How stinkin' cute are you Rhetter?!

Then as always, we spent the rest of the party putting toys together,
eating cake, and hanging out.

After the sugar!

Happy birthday to our wild, crazy, tough, rough, train lovining, dinosaur loving, silly, sweet, cuddly little boy.
We love you so much Rhetter man!

Fire Station Field Trip!

This was our second field trip with our preschool,
Case was so excited!

I was smart this time, and asked Mom to watch the Rhetter man.
I knew his attention span wouldn't last too long, especially inside one room at a fire station.

Soo glad I did too, as even our preschoolers had some trouble keeping focus for more than an hour.
The kids were wonderful though!
The firemen were so sweet, and wonderful teachers about fire safety.

Sweet babies!

Our class, parents and teachers all headed to Chick Fil A after the fire station for lunch.
We got to take Case's friend Eli over to the restaurant with us,
as his Mommy Sarah, had a Doctor's appointment for their newest baby Silas that morning.
Sarah, Eli's Mommy was going to meet us at Chick Fil A.
Case and Eli cracked me up on the way!
So cute talking about their favorite parts of the field trip!

Lunch was a little chaotic as you can imagine with lots of lots of three and four year olds,
but so much fun!
Sarah and I let our boys play in the play area for a little while, then teamed up to get the boys out and into the car at the same time! ;)

Loving these little field trips.
Such sweet memories.

Granny's

Amy gave me a call one day, telling me she was craving a trip to Granny's.
Didn't take long, before we made the plans to visit that following weekend.
There was a UK Football game Saturday, so we decided to take our babies, Rhett & Avery
and leave the big boys with their Daddy's for the weekend.

We packed up my Sequoia and headed west.
One thing you have to know about me, and my sister.
We are very, very, very directionally challenged.
I mean, how many times have we been to our Granny's?
I can't even begin to think about how many times, and I still sometimes panic that I'm going the wrong way.
Like this time, I saw a sign, freaked out and took the exit (safely, but without thinking)
Amy's all, "What? Whoa, what are you doing? Where are you going?"
"What? I thought it said to go this way, the lane was splitting and I freaked out!"
"Okay, go this way we can get back on, this isn't the right way!"

Thankfully, it was only a couple exits early, and we quickly got right back on track.
I mean, all I can do is laugh - it's ridiculous. :)

When we arrived, Uncle John's new lady, Marlene was raking up leaves with Jeremiah's little girl.
So sweet.
We were very impressed with her, such a sweet genuine soul.
After unloading, we all went out to join in the fun.
Mom was at Granny's house that weekend as well, and Mom came out,
and decided to have a seat in the leaf pile.
Well, leaf pile was so enormous, that it quite literally swallowed her whole!
I missed this since I was inside with Rhetter, but apparently you couldn't see her at all! Not even the top of her head! I'm so sad I missed it! Ha!!!

Soon Caleb, Shae and their sweet girls showed up, and it was a leaf jumping party!

Every single time we are at Granny's and spending time with our family,
it is so much flipping fun.

Even despite the fact Rhett gave us quite a scare. Right after I took that last picture, my quiet little wanderer, in seconds wandered over to the other side of the house.
I looked up he was there.
I looked down.
I looked up he was gone.
I started calling his name, then yelling his name, then asking everyone there to call his name...
I am so thankful that there were so many people there at the time, we definitely had a little search party.
My cousin Jeremiah found him about to walk down the outdoor steps to Granny's basement.
Those minutes felt like eternities.
Oh my word child!!!
I thanked God over and over that we Jeremiah found him, as fast as he did.
As you can see, there is a large wooded area behind my Granny's...and it was almost dark.
I would have been hysterical if the sun had gone down and we hadn't found our little man yet.
Talk about a shookin' up Mama.
I scooped him up and put him into a warm bath, and put him to bed!
I needed to know he was warm and safe, and confined to one area,
and then my nerves started to calm down.

The next day, Mom found a jingle bell, and we tied it to his shoe!
Stinker!

...

The following morning,
after the kids woke up, they hit up the leaf pile bright and early.

Granny looked so good.
She tired quickly, but was in wonderful spirits.
All smiles and nurturing, just like she always has been.
Uncle John & Mom kept saying she was having a really good weekend.
Which we were so thankful for.
She's so amazing, so beautiful.
...

The next day, Amy, Avery and I hit the local flea market while Rhett was napping.
Amy found a really neat weather vein, and I found an ice bucket,
a wall hanging basket and a movie for the boys.
Avery Grace found some really nice Webkinz for a dollar each!
Always fun to see what we can find.

Later, after lots of persisting (and I'm so glad there was so much persisting ;)
Uncle John talked Amy and I into going to shoot with the boys.
So. Much. Fun.

(Shoot, Amy's pictures are on her phone!)
We both hit the target really well.
We were pretty dang proud too, we got some country in us.

Have to say, we are so proud of our cousins.
They are such good boys, and such good Daddy's to their sweet baby girls.
Uncle John is doing great too it seems. So happy for him and Marlene.

So after a wonderful day of flea market shopping, shootin' guns, and hanging out with Granny and the family at the house.
We decided we better head on home.
We checked in with our boys back home, and found out they were having a lot of fun at the UK game too.

Another wonderful weekend at Granny's.
Can't wait for the next visit.
Love y'all.
